LEAD Brevard is seeking project proposals from Brevard County's non-profit 501 (c)(3) organizations and Brevard County's municipalities for consideration as a Leadership Action Project (LAP) for the 2018 Class of Leadership Brevard. Project proposals should be designed with the understanding that the Leadership Brevard class is comprised of talented and professionally accomplished individuals. We seek projects that are large enough in scope to utilize the skills of 8 - 12 team members, with different skills and experience and that will benefit an established 501 (c)(3) nonprofit agency or public sector organization. |

Thursday, April 20, 2017 marked the final session for the Leadership Brevard class of 2017 with a day titled “One World, One Community” held at the Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral.
|

|
|
Kendall Moore (Leadership Miami), Moore & Baughan, PLC set the stage for the conversation in the morning with his Grassroots Leadership remarks and the challenge to identify one’s passion - defined as ‘that thing that keeps you up at night’ – “I really care about that’ and to commit one hour a month to doing something (that somebody is you!) about it, perhaps using the skill set you already possess. Kendall then facilitated a group of community leaders in a series of conversations about their diverse experiences and how they became engaged in the ‘community’ according to their passions. Those leaders included Bob Gabordi, Executive Editor, FLORIDA TODAY Communications; Bart Gaetjens (LB 2016), Area External Affairs Manager, Florida Power & Light Company; Karen Gregory (LB 2013), HRSS Consulting Group; Ken Stackpoole, Community Solutions, LLC and Pastor Jarvis Wash (LB 2016), The R.E.A.L. Church.

Following a self-guided tour of the assets of Exploration Tower and the observation deck on the 7th floor, the class was treated to the “State of the Port” by the Port’s Amanda Brailsford-Urbina, Vice President of Human Resources, Canaveral Port Authority and Rodger Rees (LB 2014), Deputy Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer, Canaveral Port Authority. While showcasing why “A Great Place to Live is a Great Place to Visit,” Eric Garvey (LB 2016), Executive Director, Florida’s Space Coast Office of Tourism helped class members see how Brevard’s tourism industry is related to the activity at the port and how tourism is a global business for Brevard. |
